Using emojis in marketing
Emojis make posts easier to scan and add a bit of personality. In lists, a tick or arrow at the start of each line helps readers follow along. In a call to action, a pointing hand draws the eye to what you want people to do. Used well, they make messages friendlier without making them look childish.
Emoji do's and don'ts
| Do | Don't |
|---|---|
| Use 1 to 3 emojis that add meaning | Fill every line with emojis |
| Use ticks or arrows as bullet points | Replace important words with emojis |
| Match your brand's tone | Use emojis in formal or sensitive messages |
| Test how they look on Android and iPhone | Assume every emoji looks the same everywhere |
Ads and accessibility
Screen readers read emojis aloud by name, so too many make a message hard to follow. In Google Ads, emojis in ad text are generally not allowed, while Meta ads allow them. Format the rest of your WhatsApp message with the WhatsApp text formatter and write captions with the caption generator.
