What crawl budget means

Crawl budget is roughly how many URLs Googlebot can and wants to crawl on your site in a given time. It depends on how fast your server responds and how much Google values your content. For small and medium sites, it is rarely the main problem; it matters more for large sites, online stores with filters, or sites that generate many duplicate URLs.

Does robots.txt save crawl budget?

Blocking low-value URL patterns can reduce wasted crawling, but do not block pages you want indexed.
