Where to use a WhatsApp QR code
| Place | Tip |
|---|---|
| Shop counter and billing desk | Use a message like "Hi, I visited your shop" to track walk-ins |
| Flyers, pamphlets and banners | Print it large enough to scan from a short distance |
| Product packaging and bills | Invite customers to reorder or share feedback |
| Visiting cards | Keep at least 2 x 2 cm with white space around it |
| Events and seminars | Let people message for details instead of noting your number |
Tips for QR codes that scan every time
- Keep strong contrast. A dark code on a light background is the safest choice.
- Do not invert the colours. Some phones struggle with light codes on dark backgrounds.
- Leave a quiet zone. Keep blank space around the code and do not crop it.
- Keep the message short. Longer messages make the code denser and harder to scan from far away.
- Test before printing hundreds of copies.
The logo version uses the highest error correction level, which lets phones read the code even with the logo covering the centre.
WhatsApp QR code vs the code in the app
WhatsApp Business also gives you a QR code inside the app. That code works well, but you cannot choose the colours, add a caption or pick the pre-filled message as freely. A wa.me QR code from this tool always opens your chosen number and message, and it will keep working as long as the number stays on WhatsApp.

Is this WhatsApp QR code generator free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no watermark. The QR code is created in your browser and your number is not stored on our server.
Does the WhatsApp QR code expire?
No. It is a static code that opens a wa.me link. It keeps working as long as your number is active on WhatsApp.
Can I add the WhatsApp logo to the QR code?
Yes. Tick the logo option. The code then uses high error correction so phones can still read it with the logo in the centre.
What size should I print the QR code?
At least 2 x 2 cm for close scanning, such as visiting cards. For posters or banners, make it larger and test from the distance people will stand.
Can I change the message after printing?
No. The number and message are inside the printed code. If you need to change them, create and print a new code.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. It works with both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business numbers.
