Green means 120 to 160 characters, which shows in full on desktop. Mobile may show slightly less, so the key point should come first.

What is a meta description?
A meta description is the short grey text that appears under your title in Google. It is written in the <meta name="description"> tag of the page, and it acts like a small advert for the page.
Google has said the meta description is not a ranking factor. It still matters a lot, because it affects how many people click. When the words someone searched appear in your description, Google shows them in bold, which makes your result stand out.
A simple formula for descriptions that get clicks
| Part | What to write | Example |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The keyword and what the page offers | Digital marketing course in Faridabad |
| Why choose it | Two or three real benefits | with live projects, AI tools and weekend batches |
| What to do next | A clear action | Book a free demo today. |
Put together, that gives you a description that is specific, honest and easy to act on. Only list benefits that are true for your page. A description that promises more than the page delivers may win the click but lose the visitor.
How long should a meta description be?
Aim for 120 to 160 characters. Desktop results usually show around 920 to 1030 pixels of text, and mobile results often show a little less. Write the most important words in the first 100 characters so they survive even when the end is cut.
Shorter descriptions are fine for simple pages, but very short ones waste the chance to explain why someone should click. If you write 60 characters, Google is also more likely to replace your text with a line from the page.
Writing descriptions for local businesses
For a shop, clinic or institute in Faridabad or anywhere in Delhi NCR, mention the area and one practical detail people care about, such as timings, home visits, parking or free consultations. For example: “Physiotherapy clinic in Sector 15, Faridabad with home visits and evening slots. Call or WhatsApp to book.”
Write a different description for each page. Copying one description across the whole site tells Google nothing about each page and makes your results look identical. Our on-page SEO checklist covers the other basics.
Mistakes to avoid
- Stuffing the keyword in three or four times.
- Leaving the description empty, so Google picks random text.
- Using the same description on every page.
- Writing a vague line like “Welcome to our website”.
- Putting double quotes inside the description, which can cut it off in some HTML.

Is this meta description generator free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no usage limit. Descriptions are created in your browser and nothing is sent to our server.
What is the best length for a meta description?
Aim for 120 to 160 characters. Desktop shows about 920 to 1030 pixels of text, and mobile can show less, so keep the most important point near the start.
Does the meta description help rankings?
Not directly. Google has said it is not a ranking factor, but a clear description can raise your click-through rate, which brings more visitors from the same ranking.
Why does Google show different text from my description?
Google sometimes picks a line from the page that better matches the exact search. A specific, accurate description that matches the page makes this less likely.
Should every page have a unique meta description?
Yes. Each page should describe its own content. Duplicate descriptions make your results look the same and give Google no help in understanding each page.
Can I write descriptions in Hindi?
Yes. You can type Hindi or Hinglish words in the fields. Devanagari characters are wider, so check the pixel width and keep the text a little shorter.
