What is FAQ schema?
FAQ schema is structured data that tells search engines a page contains a list of questions with answers. It uses the FAQPage type from schema.org and is usually written in JSON-LD, a small block of code that does not change how the page looks.
Since 2023, Google shows the FAQ rich result, with expandable questions under the listing, mainly for well-known government and health websites. For most other sites, FAQ schema will not create that dropdown. It still helps search engines and AI tools understand your page clearly, and a good FAQ section answers real customer questions.

FAQ schema rules to follow
| Rule | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Show every question and answer on the page | Schema for hidden content can be treated as spam |
| Write the answers yourself, not users | Pages where users submit answers should use QAPage instead |
| Use FAQ schema once per page | Duplicate blocks confuse validators |
| Keep answers factual | FAQs are not a place for adverts or made-up claims |
| Match the schema text to the visible text | Mismatches can make the markup invalid |
How to write FAQs people actually want
The best FAQ questions come from real customers. Look at the questions people ask on calls and WhatsApp, the searches in your Search Console report and the “People also ask” boxes in Google.
Answer each question in the first sentence, then add one or two lines of detail. A clear, direct answer is also the kind of text AI search tools like to quote. For local businesses in Faridabad and Delhi NCR, common topics are timings, fees, location, parking, home service areas and how to book.
Adding FAQ schema in WordPress
- In Elementor, drop an HTML widget at the bottom of the FAQ section and paste the JSON-LD.
- Rank Math Pro and some FAQ blocks can add FAQ schema automatically. Do not add a second copy by hand if they already do.
- After publishing, check the page in Google Search Console with the URL inspection tool.
