Social Media Character Counter for Every Platform
Paste your post once and see if it fits the character limits of Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Business Profile and more, including the preview cut-offs.
How to use the character counter
- Paste your post once.
- Check the table to see which platforms it fits, and which ones would cut it off.
- Trim or adapt the text for any platform where it is too long.
Limits vs preview cut-offs
Most platforms allow long posts but show only the first part in the feed. Instagram shows roughly the first 125 characters of a caption before “more”, and LinkedIn about 200 before “see more”. The hard limit tells you what you can post. The preview tells you what most people will actually read. Put your hook inside the preview.
One message, many platforms
| Platform | Adapt it by |
|---|---|
| X | Cutting to one sharp sentence, or making a thread |
| A strong first line, line breaks and a few hashtags | |
| A professional angle and a question at the end | |
| Google Business Profile | Local details and a clear button, no phone number in the text |
| A short, friendly message with bold for the key detail |
Split long posts with the thread splitter and keep Instagram spacing with the line break tool.
