YouTube Earnings Calculator
Estimate what a YouTube channel could earn from ads, based on monthly views and RPM, the amount creators actually receive per 1,000 views. Plan with a low, middle and high range.
How to estimate YouTube earnings
- Enter your monthly views.
- Enter your RPM, revenue per 1,000 views, from YouTube Studio, Analytics, Revenue. If you are not monetised yet, use a careful guess and treat the result as rough.
- Set the share of views that are monetised, since not every view shows an ad.
RPM vs CPM
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| CPM | What advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube's share |
| RPM | What you actually earn per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and across all views |
RPM is the number to use for planning, because it reflects what reaches your account.
How to join the YouTube Partner Program
To earn ad revenue, a channel needs to join the YouTube Partner Program. The common requirement for full ad revenue sharing is 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million public Shorts views in the last 90 days. YouTube also offers earlier access to some features at lower thresholds. Check the current rules in YouTube Studio, under Earn.
