How to use the QR code generator
- Pick the type of QR code: a link, UPI payment, WiFi login, contact card, phone call, SMS, email or plain text.
- Fill in the details. The QR code updates as you type.
- Choose your colours and, if you like, upload your logo. With a logo, the tool switches to the highest error correction automatically.
- Download a PNG for print and social media, or an SVG for large banners and design software.
- Scan it with two phones before you print it in bulk.
Which QR code type should you use?
| Type | What happens when scanned | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Link | Opens a web page | Menus, brochures, landing pages, Google review links |
| UPI | Opens a UPI app to pay you | Shop counters, invoices, delivery payments |
| WiFi | Joins your WiFi network | Cafes, offices, institutes, guest rooms |
| Contact | Saves your details to the phone | Visiting cards and events |
| Phone and SMS | Starts a call or a text | Posters and service vehicles |
| Opens a pre-filled email | Feedback and support |
For WhatsApp, use our dedicated WhatsApp QR code generator, and for reviews, our Google review link generator creates the link and QR code together.
Static vs dynamic QR codes
This tool creates static QR codes. The information is stored inside the code itself, so it never expires, needs no account and works offline. The trade-off is that you cannot change where it points after printing. Dynamic QR codes from paid services point to a short link that can be edited later and show scan statistics.
If you want scan tracking with a static code, point it to a page on your own site with UTM tags from our UTM link builder, and you will see the visits in GA4.
Tips for QR codes that work
- Use a dark code on a light background with strong contrast.
- Keep a blank border around the code and never stretch it.
- Print at least 2 x 2 cm, and larger for posters seen from a distance.
- Keep the content short. Shorter data makes a simpler code that scans faster.
- Add a short line next to it, such as “Scan to pay” or “Scan for the menu”, so people know what to expect.
- For UPI codes, check the UPI ID and test with a small payment before displaying it.

Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no scan limit. The codes are static, so they never expire.
Can I add my logo to the QR code?
Yes. Upload your logo and it is placed in the centre. The tool uses the highest error correction so the code still scans with the logo.
How do I make a UPI QR code for my shop?
Choose the UPI tab, enter your UPI ID and business name, and leave the amount empty so customers can enter it. Test it with a small payment before printing.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They are static QR codes with the information stored inside them, so they keep working as long as the link, number or UPI ID is valid.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG works for most uses, including print and social media. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, which suits banners and design software.
Is my data safe?
Yes. The QR code is created in your browser. Your links, WiFi passwords and logo are not uploaded to our server.
