Free Max CPC Calculator for Google Ads
Find the highest cost per click you can pay and still make a profit, from your sale value, margin and conversion rate. Use it to set bids and judge whether a keyword is worth it.
How to use the max CPC calculator
- Enter your average sale value and gross margin.
- Enter your click to sale rate, the share of ad clicks that end up buying. If you only know leads, multiply your click to lead rate by your lead to sale rate.
- Choose how much profit to keep from each sale.
- Add a keyword’s estimated CPC from Keyword Planner to see if it is worth bidding on.
The max CPC formula
Max CPC = sale value x margin x conversion rate x (1 – profit share). For a ₹15,000 sale with a 50% margin and 0.5% of clicks buying, each click is worth ₹37.50 in gross profit. To keep 30% of that profit, you can pay up to about ₹26 per click.
Conversion rate changes everything
| Click to sale rate | Break-even CPC (₹15,000 sale, 50% margin) |
|---|---|
| 0.25% | ₹18.75 |
| 0.5% | ₹37.50 |
| 1% | ₹75 |
| 2% | ₹150 |
Doubling your conversion rate doubles the CPC you can afford. A faster, clearer landing page lets you outbid competitors and still profit.
Turn it into bids
With manual CPC bidding, use the max CPC as a ceiling. With smart bidding, convert it into a target cost per sale with the target CPA calculator. Write stronger ads with the Google Ads headline generator to raise click-through rate and Quality Score.

What is max CPC?
Max CPC is the highest amount you are willing to pay for one click. In Google Ads you often pay less than your maximum because of how the auction works.
How do I find my click to sale rate?
Divide sales from your ads by the clicks they received over the same period. If you track leads, multiply the click to lead rate by the lead to sale rate.
Why is my max CPC so low?
Usually the conversion rate is low. Improving the landing page, offer or follow-up raises the value of every click.
