Ad metric formulas
| Metric | Formula | Example |
|---|---|---|
| CPM | Spend / impressions x 1,000 | ₹20,000 / 2,50,000 x 1,000 = ₹80 |
| CPC | Spend / clicks | ₹20,000 / 3,000 = ₹6.67 |
| CTR | Clicks / impressions x 100 | 3,000 / 2,50,000 = 1.2% |
| Cost per lead | Spend / leads | ₹20,000 / 150 = ₹133 |
Which metric matters most?
CPM tells you how expensive it is to reach people, CTR tells you how well your ad grabs attention, and CPC combines both. But none of them pays the bills. A cheap click that never becomes a lead is worse than an expensive click that does. Always follow the numbers down to leads and sales, using the cost per lead calculator and the ROI calculator.

What is CPM?
CPM is cost per mille, the cost of 1,000 ad impressions. It is a common pricing and comparison metric for Meta, YouTube and display ads.
How do I calculate CTR?
Divide clicks by impressions and multiply by 100. 3,000 clicks from 2,50,000 impressions is a 1.2% CTR.
What is a good CTR?
It depends on the platform and ad type. Search ads usually have higher CTRs than social or display ads. Compare with your own past campaigns.
