Free X (Twitter) Thread Splitter
Paste a long piece of text and split it into a numbered thread of posts that each fit the 280-character limit on X, breaking at sentences so every post reads well.
How to split text into a thread
- Paste your long text, such as a blog summary or a list of tips.
- Choose the limit: 280 for X, 500 for Threads or 300 for Bluesky.
- Pick a numbering style and copy each post in order.
How the splitter works
The tool breaks your text into sentences and fills each post with as many full sentences as fit, leaving room for the number. Very long sentences are split between words. This keeps every post readable on its own, instead of cutting words in half.
Tips for threads that get read
| Part | Tip |
|---|---|
| First post | Promise a clear payoff, like "5 steps" or a result |
| Middle posts | One idea per post, with examples |
| Last post | Summarise and add a call to action or link |
| Format | Short sentences and line breaks |
Reuse your content
A thread is a great way to reuse a blog post or YouTube video. Write the hook with our hook generator, check lengths for other platforms with the social media character counter, and tag any links with the UTM link builder.
